how many viruses exist on the internet?

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

Why is there computer’s infections?
The money certainly motivates the creators of malware. This was not the first case of virus writers in the mid 80s. At that time, it was rather a challenge, to show they were capable, or simply cause. Infections were content to replicate themselves in, post a message, and sometimes destroyed (rarely) of data.

Today, these programs are a source of income and means are different:

* Mass attack (DDOS) attacks from hijacked computers,
* Registered mail advertisements from hijacked PCs (spam)
* Display ads (popup)
* Scammers with fake security software (Rogue)
* Flight data, passwords, serial numbers for software ...
* Redirect to fraudulent websites (phishing)
* Blackmail (ransomware)
* Etc ...

To achieve their end, most infections have to be discreet so as to stay longer with their hosts. We may suspect an infection in the case of display of popups, or suspicious activity by the system or Internet connection.

The virus name applied to a very specific family of malware infection should be used instead, a broader term. We will also discuss on the basis of Crimeware fraudulent actions of these applications.

the number of viruses identified is about 1626845 nowdays

how many people are victims of identity ?

Monday, May 10, 2010

Identity theft always starts with the collection of personal information about individuals defrauded. Personal information may be name, telephone number, date of birth, address, SIN number, credit card, password or credit card debit or any other information identifying the person. The victim of identity theft is still alive, and therefore has the right to defend its rights.

The thieves then use this information to perform a transaction or simulating identity of the person defrauded. For example, a fraudster can make phone calls or make major purchases and direct costs to the person defrauded, he may also withdraw money from the bank account of that person.

Identity theft involves a criminal act related. The victim, deceased, no longer able to recover its rights. It is usually buried with the identity of someone else.

  • Nearly 85% of all victims find out about their identity theft case in a negative manner. Only 15% of victims find out due to a proactive action taken by a business.
  • The average time spent by victims is about 600 hours, an increase of more than 300% over previous studies.
  • While victims are finding out about their cases earlier, it is taking far longer now than before to eliminate negative information from credit reports.
  • A large majority of respondents indicates the opening of a credit card (73%) or takeover of a card account (27%) to be among crimes committed.
  • The emotional impact of identity theft has been found to parallel that of victims of violent crime.
  • The responsiveness toward victims by the various entities with which they must interact continues to be lacking in sensitivity in most cases and has not improved since studies released in 2000

presentation

hello to everbody. My name is Danny and i am a student who likes technology. However, as most people may be aware of, technology has got its goods and bads.

A century ago no one could correspond with one another over long distances in just five minutes; no one could ever be operated of a heart organ, no one could even fly from cities to cities. Technology has brought us many facilities we could use in order to make our lives better off. With the invention of planes, phones, computers, websites and their ameliorations, we are now in the world of 3D TV and cinemas, a world of IPod and Itouchs entertaining people at any moment they want.

Technology when it brought us development, it took away some features of our lives. Take a look around the world, Pornographic web sites are spread over the net everywhere; a lot of children and young people are accessing those sites and watch those kinds of movies. Everyone is free of his or her moves, but we all know that it has got psychological effects. Not only that it impact us psychologically but technology has impacted us even socially. With the surge of internet, direct interactions between people are dying out. People prefer now to stay on the computer instead of being around a bush fire and talking in family and friends.

In conclusion technology impacted positively and negatively on our everyday lives. The ultimate goal that every one of us should try to achieve is to chose select the technological features to include in his or her life. I will be talking about some issues and ethics of technology in my blog. Please feel free to add a comment on what your understand in order to share some ideas together.
